Rural Granny Flat – Marburg
Rural Granny Flat – Marburg
Another great example for those looking for options for the extended family and wanting to downsize at the same time…
Watch the build video below:
OVERVIEW:
- 2014 Rural acreage bought by several family members
- Original house built 1910 – a beautiful 5 bedroom Queenslander
- Land size 12.14ha
- Kids want to make the original house their new family home
- Early 2015, separate stand alone Granny Flat idea mooted
- Granny flat designs, approved and lodged
- Granny flat building commenced early 2016
DETAILS:
The original 5 bedroom Queenslander was large enough for the kids and extended family. The idea of a smaller separate dwelling for the parents seemed like the logical step to progress things.
We are finding that this is not an uncommon situation – parents wanting to downsize but still live in close proximity and be a part of the family. Currently one in four granny flats that we are building are for immediate family members. It’s a great solution for all concerned.
The building finished and final completion certificate issued, parents moved into their new abode – are they happy! Absolutely – are the kids happy – Absolutely!
Are you looking to downsize and want to help the kids into the property market?
